Had a wonderful day at Jord's house for Thanksgiving. Didn't get any pictures of the food but I can say that we had a bunch of it.....and we had a lot of fun....

Poor Jane would have just liked to go home, but she found a cozy place by the fire.....

My precious church family and the unity we have....it has been amazing what the Lord has done in the lives of those people....and what a testimony they have been to me....

Noah....amazing what the Lord has done with his life....wow!...He gave it all to the Lord and I know it is not easy....but what a testimony he is
Bro. Ron and Anita....so faithful and kind.....they also have been a testimony....so glad that my daughter has them.

It all started out at the cabin this fall.....my sweetie lead me down to the river and said that we were going to draw and then paint a picture. And that is just what he did.....only, I didn't take a picture of that picture he did that day. I still have it so maybe I will post it sometime. It sure was a beautiful day.

So when we got back home we decided to try learning and just having fun with watercolors. Here our some of Gene's.....

no....that's not a motel room.....it's our new bedroom set! Ha! But really....every night we feel like we are sleeping in a fancy motel room..... and all for the price of a nice mattress set, which makes it even better.

I guess this was our 30th wedding anniversary present to ourselves. It's really nice sleeping on a good mattress.....it's been a long time.

My masterpiece....ha, ha,......I finished my first tutorial watercoloring painting. Not perfect by any means and not original but I have learned a lot so it's okay for now. It was fun and easy....pretty much anyways. Can't wait to begin my next one. Stay tuned.

Miss Kristy played for morning service with Bro. Ledgitt leading music. Bro. Sanchez will be helping out soon....playing the guitar. Here is Dad playing his melodica. He did a great job and sounded good. We had very pleasant song services Sunday.

Dad and I drove toward Delta J. this morning to pick up some diamond willow. We took the dogs and let them have a nice swim near Quartz Lake. We forgot the camera so had to take these two pictures with my ipod.

Not sure if Molly enjoyed it, but Jane was hot so she loved it. Molly was mad because Jane wouldn't let her get the stick.

I just love this picture. Not sure who put up this flower arrangement but I love it.

The Big Trip Begins......

It only took 29+ hours to get there. So thankful that the Wilhites were there to pick them up!

After they left I realized that there would be more dogs than kids at home for the summer! Ha! Thankfully, Jord usually shows up everyday....and Lisa, Caleb, and Clayten come over a few times during the week.....so glad the Lord gave us a large family for times like these.

We have SUNSHINE!!....the sun was actually shining on Jock and I in our pew today at church!! It got high enough to come through the window. It wasn't until 1:30 in the afternoon but who cares. We had tons of food at our potluck today....Rebekah made some yummy chicken with apples and I made beans with ham hocks...and there was some yummy spaghetti, mashed potatoes, potatoes and onions, cucumber tomatoes pasta salad, veggies, strawberry cake, apple crisp, and muffins....oh, and garlic bread. You would think that after having potlucks every Sunday for the last year and a half we would get tired of it....but we are loving it. The fellowship has been so sweet.

Our sweet little Smeagle pup...that Aimee and I nursed because he was deformed. This is really stupid but we sure did enjoy this little guy.....he was special....just ask Jordan. When he was feeling well he was so happy and he was always sweet. The vet sent us his paw print.

This was after Jesus healed Jairus' daughter. I love the last part of this verse....I know eating is vital to sustain life and this young girl probably needed it but what is that to our Lord?....just a little thing. My Lord cares for the little things.

Try reading the Bible a chapter a day....you will get so much more out of it....if you feel bad about not reading a long passage you can always read the same chapter a few times a day or read some Psalms or Proverbs. Dad and I are enjoying reading the New Testament through this year a chapter a day.

I am reading through the New Testament this year and thought I might try posting a verse or two a day from my reading...Mark 1:17-18 And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him. I love it how they forsook and followed. It is so easy when you are first saved to give it all to Him and trust Him.....then come the bumps in our life. I like the title of Warren Wiersbe's book The Bumps are What You Climb On. Climb up over that bump and keep following.

This is rye and pumpernickel.....

The round loaf here is whole wheat/white...

More rye and pumpernickel....

These are spelt.....

This is the book and they also have one called
Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day.
I like this book because it has the whole grain recipes.
No kneading, you just mix up the dough, let it sit for a couple
of hours, put in the frig for up to 2 weeks.
When you are ready to bake, take a wad out and let if raise,
put it on a baking stone, throw some water in another pan
in the oven and bake it.
It is that easy. I thought the white version was not
that flavorful, but my family loves it and all the recipes
I have made. I especially like the rye, pumpernickel, and spelt.

These are hospital pictures. We spent 3 1/2 days in the hospital with Rishon.
(He has already changed so much though.)

Jo had a midwife, but the baby's cord was tied in a true knot like Krista's and they were losing him so she had to have an emergency c-section.
So thankful for doctors when there is a true emergency.
We are especially thankful to our Lord for sparing Rishon's life.

Anything to help her get some rest.

The nurses prepared this beautiful table for the happy parents.
And Grandma disappeared.

After Rishon got off all his wires and lines they wanted to take him for a walk.
The nurse wouldn't let him go very far.....

I am so thankful for Ron and Anita.
Jo and Jason are so fortunate to have them.
They brought us mexican food and coffee!!! How sweet is that!!

It was difficult at times but Rishon kept us smiling.
We are so thankful he is alive and healthy.

Jason's lovely mother and Jo's wonderful mother-in-law.
I am so glad she was there for them.
She's a great lady.

I dropped my digital camera at the wedding and it will not flash now. And it takes fuzzy pictures...sometimes. So, I am in the market for a new camera. Well, as soon as I come up with the money to pay for it.

Just wondering if any of you out there in blogland have a camera recommendation? Please let me know if you have a favorite digital camera you love.

Mine was a Kodak EasyShare Z730. I really liked it, except that you had to wait so long between pictures. It took a long time to ready up for the next picture, if you know what I mean.

This is above the entryway to the kitchen. We wondered if it was supposed to look like somekind of gate to a castle moat??

(The next two pics) This a one of my favorite windows in the house. It is a very tiny window with a large frame. It's in the bathroom and there are actually two of them on each wall by the sink. So in the morning this is what you can look at when you are washing your face or putting on your makeup....very nice. I love it. To get a good picture of what you can see outside I had to take this in the dark...the window is much prettier in person. They kind of look like framed pictures on the wall.

It's all over and it was lovely. We all enjoyed it so much and we had such great help and support from our church. Everything went so smooth and we had a lot of fun.

I have to admit that today was very hard. Aimee and I were in town to take Jock to testing. When Jock found out that Jo was at a hotel in town he wanted to go visit her. I had to explain that you can't just go visit someone on their honeymoon. He totally could not understand that. "What do you mean? She's my sister, of course we can go visit her." It was kind of funny even though he was so serious. Then it hit me that Jo is not going to be in town anymore. No more meeting her at the library at lunchtime. That was the beginning of many little meltdowns of the day.....for both Gene and I. But that is okay, I am glad we can miss her.

We didn't get many pictures of our own, but as soon as we get some good ones I will post more.

Another Engagement....

Caleb and Lisa were engaged on Christmas Eve.

Caleb had been hoping to ask her by Christmas. However, we weren't sure that was going to happen....by the time Christmas Eve arrived Caleb hadn't even asked her father yet and the ring was still on its way....At first, FedEx said it would arrive the day before Christmas Eve then they changed that to Christmas Eve day.

Because of all this Gene had started a 'Twas the Night Before Christmas" poem for them and it became very appropriate as it came closer to Christmas....here it is:

Twas the night before Christmas and all those in the house
Were glaring at Caleb the procrastinating louse.

Lisa set by her chimney with looks of despair
Hopeful that Caleb would somehow get there.

If she waited much longer they would all be in bed
And if soon there was no ring Caleb would wish he were dead.

Momma in her kerchief and I in my cap
Finally turned in for a long winters nap.

When out in the drive there arose a little clatter
Caleb sprang from his chair to look into the matter.

Away to the window he flew in a flash
Looking for Fed Ex and reaching for his cash

The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow
Gave the luster of midday to the diamond in stow.

When what to my sleepy eyes should appear
But a sigh of relief and a streak from a tear

From the little old driver he grabbed the box quick
He hoped with all hope the box would do the trick

More rapid than eagles to the Flynn house he came
He hoped he would get there before it was the end of his game.

My mom gave us this cute Thomas Kinkade Christmas Tree with moving trains. It plays many different Christmas songs. I didn't count them all but there are quite a few. The trains go around the tree and it has village scenes on each level with a lot of detail. It is hard to really show it well in these photos. I also tried to get a video for my mom, but not sure how well that will turn out here. There is a removable santa that can go on the top if you like or be removed to show a star with a light in it. Wish I could have gotten more details in the pictures, but this is the best I could do.

The kids (minus the hunters) and I went to Pagoda for dinner. Jock and I came home in my car. The others returned a little later with 50 roses! Wow! Thanks guys....you keep me feeling young.

Fifty sure seems a lot older when your younger....but once you get there it's really not that bad. In fact, it's quite good. The Lord has been so good to me.

Joanna is engaged.....Yes, I know that's unbelieveable, she's the last one you would have thought would have been the first one. (Pictures to follow someday, but not soon because we don't have any. I'm not sure how that happened, but it was a busy week).

We had a nice Missions Conference week. Bro. Hammett is an excellent preacher and really challenged us on witnessing. And his wife is adorable. We will miss them, but we are looking forward to Rachel and Sam coming.

Aimee bought Rebekah a Wok skillet for Christmas.....so today her and Joanna treated us to a wonderful Thai meal.....up in their apartment!!

We started out with Jo's specialty.....Egg Drop Soup.....

Then we had some Thai chicken that Rebekah cooked up for us......

It was all very tasty......

Hopefully, this is the beginning of something wonderful......like an every Saturday stir-fry meal......YAY!!!

to share their Christmas cookie (or candy) list?

We want to try some new cookie ideas if anyone is willing to share theirs.

Each year the kids make their cookie or candy of choice.

Here is our list:

Joanna makes Sugar Cookies, Gingerbread People, and Chinese Noodle Cookies.

Tobi makes Pig Outs, a toffee like candy, but super easy and good. He also makes Eggnog Cookies, a sugar cookie made with eggnog. And, he makes Seven Layer Bars.

Aimee makes Gumdrop Cookies and this year we added coconut. It's an oatmeal cookie with spice gumdrops and coconut. She also made Peanut Butter Reindeer Cookies this year. (Kluane's family makes these and they are really cute.)

Jordan and Jock make Oatmeal Scotchies.

Krista makes Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies and Chocolate Covered Pretzels.

And this year we also made Peanut Clusters.

We are really behind this year, only Aimee has hers finished. I guess we have a lot of baking to do this week. Do we really need all this?

Anyways, if you have time we want to know what you make.

I thought i'd update you guys on our trip. :)

First the Bek's "Monster" Bug.

And this was a nice patch of trees in some sort of plowed field.

And then some building.

We ate at a really nice restruant on our way to Souix Falls.

They bring all your food on garbage can lids.

He forced me to put these on.
He's getting quite anoying.............

It's cold here today and the ice is coming in!

It was about 45 below when we woke up this morning. Hopefully, this will be the last cold spell of this winter.

Toby usually has a fan blowing on his window to keep the ice from building up, but the fan disappeared.

(I don't know if you can see it, but there is even frost on the tip of that pencil!)

For Peanut Butter Lovers......

Aimee made these cookies today. Not sure where I got this recipe, but they have lots of peanut butter flavor and they are not too sweet. We used whole wheat flour and you would never know! Of course we doubled the recipe...but we should have tripled it....they didn't last too long.

Best Peanut Butter Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup brown sugar

• 1/2 cup granulated sugar

• 1/2 cup butter

• 1 egg

• 1 cup peanut butter

• 1/2 teaspoon salt

• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

• 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Preparation: Preheat oven to 375F. Beat butter until soft. Sift sugars together, then add to butter gradually, beating until creamy. Beat in egg, peanut butter, salt and baking soda. Sift flour prior to measuring, then add measured amount to batter. Also add vanilla, and mix well. Roll dough into 3/4-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Flatten with a fork, if you like, but not necessary. Bake 8 minutes.
